I wasn't really able to include information about their daily life after they reunited in "Cherry blossoms fall" so I was very happy to be able to include it in this book.
What I particularly wanted to express was Giyu's feelings on leaving Sanemi behind, and how Sanemi felt living on in the face of Giyu's death. Also, their caretaker, Uzui-san! (He remembers his past.)
I also really wanted them to encounter each other while feeling like they'd been transported back to the past in some way, so I came up with the idea of them wearing kimono at their school festival... But it then went straight to NSFW, the story development was all over the place, and there were a lot of things that were hard to read... I'm sorry, I couldn't resist my base instincts. Then again, the title "Cherry blossoms bloom" refers to how Sanemi left 'blooms' behind on Giyu's chest, so this was an unavoidable fate! (is my excuse).
I usually like my Sanemi to be more coarse and aggressive and for Giyu to be air-headed and manly, but because of the influence of "Cherry blossoms fall," Sanemi basically became a saint and Giyu became a huge cry baby.
I hope the two will make many more memories ahead of them. Happily laughing, getting mad and fighting, occasionally looking back on past memories, and sharing their thoughts as they walk onward.
Regarding Sanemi's last monologue:
The reason why he said he wants Giyu to be "by [his] side" instead of directly "with him" is because if they are reborn again, there is no guarantee that they will be romantically involved again. His only wish is to be close with Giyu, no matter what form that relationship should take. I wanted to express Sanemi's tender and warm love in this way. Even though Sanemi wouldn't mind if they were always romantically involved, he wouldn't restrict himself to just that either. I hope that Giyu will always be smiling, and basking in Sanemi's love.
SaneGiyu, please be happy forever...
